“The Greek state must always take care of the security of Greek citizens, wherever they are. And I hope the great adventure in Sudan comes to an end and people can safely return to their homes. Our Armed Forces once again outwitted us and took care of the completion of this difficult operation,” he added.

The operation was carried out by officers of the Greek Armed Forces in close cooperation and coordination with the National Operations Center of the Hellenic Armed Forces and the crisis management unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

39 people returned to Elefsina on the S-130 VVS-1.

The C-130 landed at Elefsina Air Base after 21:00.
