Deputies from Cyprus were Haris Georgiadis (head), Aristos Damianou, Nicholas Papadopoulos and Christiana Erotokritou, members of the delegation of the House of Representatives for the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation of Cyprus, Greece, Israel and the USA “3+1”.
The meeting was convened by Robert Menendez, Chairman of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, with the aim of getting to know each other and identifying priority areas for inter-parliamentary cooperation.
It is reported that during the meeting, all delegations stressed the importance of the parliamentary dimension of 3+1 cooperation and the added value it can bring to promote common goals and synergies in areas of particular interest to the four countries. .
In their joint statement, the delegations of the House of Representatives, the Greek Parliament, the Knesset and the US Senate state that “We are happy with the first meeting of the 3+1 Inter-Parliamentary Group with the participation of elected representatives of the United States, Cyprus, Greece and Israel“.
“We reaffirmed our common commitment to enhancing security, stability and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean. We discussed how our parliaments can advance shared priorities, including energy and maritime security, economic growth and global stability. We look forward to continuing our efforts through this collaboration,” the joint statement said.
