Giorgos Katrugalos of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance.
As MPs note in a statement, “Following an investigation by the PEGA Committee of the European Parliament, the European Prosecutor’s Office is already conducting a detailed investigation into the illegal export of Predator spyware from Greece to countries in Asia, Africa and other countries. and information that the companies involved in this case are also liable for tax evasion. As is known, due to the fact that the competent General Directorate of Economic Diplomacy issued export licenses for dual status products to Intellexa SA, the corresponding EDE was ordered in November 2022, which is reportedly completed. The said finding relates to the more general illegal use of spyware, which has already been confirmed by an investigation by the constitutionally competent independent body ADAE, and its findings should be brought to the attention of Parliament.”
As the deputies of SYRIZA-PS emphasize, “due to parliamentary control, the secrecy of the find can be removed, as was standard practice in such cases of parliamentary inquiry when governing the country of SYRIZA, with the possibility of access to them by a limited circle of representatives of the parties.”
