The President of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance took a tour of the Argos market on Friday morning, Alexis Tsipras.
During his visit, he discussed with the townspeople and shopkeepers the market situation, punctuality, debt accumulation and a sharp drop in income.
Mr. Tsipras then made the following statement:
“The government, its ministers and the prime minister are dealing with toxicity, division, because they have no arguments, no answers to the big problems that concern citizens. They do not feel the problems that concern citizens. We want to be among citizens who are looking for solutions and answers to their big problems.
Punctuality has turned everyday life into Calvary. Income does not come out after the third week of the month. A sense of insecurity, insecurity dominates most of Greek society.
Most citizens now understand that in elections it is not about which party, but about what day will overtake us. Will we keep sinking or will we change? And the condition for political change is the victory of SYRIZA.
That is why we clearly say that voting for SYRIZA means political change and a progressive government. Political changes and a progressive government means from the next day a plan so that we have wage increases, price cuts, debt regulation, a strong welfare state, efficient, next to the citizen. With the new SSY, with safety and security for all and more fairness. Justice is everywhere.
This is our motto. This is our vision. And we will bring it to life with the vote of the citizens.”
Appeal to citizens
Earlier, Mr. Tsipras gave a short speech to a crowd of people gathered in the market of Argos to greet him:
“I want to thank you for your presence and your welcome. And I want to say that no matter what the dimensions say and write, I see the only dimension that has contact with the world. And people are already saying the same thing. It still says so!
And it has nothing to do with left, right or center. It is related to our life and our daily life. Neither the left, nor the right, nor the centrists tolerate injustice. So our goal should be to create the hope that the vast majority lack, that things can change. That we are not all the same and that we can honestly, with hard work and determination, create a better future for this place, with justice, more justice.
I understand that this sentiment, prevailing in Greek society today, is saying, “Enough. Enough.” Why; Because we see that our lives are getting more difficult every day, that the vast majority are struggling to make ends meet. Income is maintained in the third week. Prices skyrocketed. Supermarket electricity increase, price increase for gasoline.
We were told that the import crisis. Yes, but the speculation is not imported, it is Greek. Because there is an accuracy crisis all over Europe, but only Greece ranks first in wholesale electricity prices in all of Europe. We have the most expensive gasoline in all of Europe and the highest prices in the supermarket, while at the same time we have the lowest salaries, except for Bulgaria.
So, what I think Greek society is demanding today – left, right, center – everyone, I emphasize that it is demanding more justice. And we say that significant changes are needed not only in the government, but also in its policy. Change in everyday life, in our lives. Political change must be consistent with major changes in the daily lives of citizens.
Political change will only come if SYRIZA comes first. And everyone knows it. And voting for SYRIZA means higher wages, lower prices, debt repayment, a strong and efficient state. Not the state that frightens the citizen, not the state that fills with uncertainty because it is discredited. And, unfortunately, we saw this in the most tragic way in Tempe. But a state that will be close to the citizen, with a strong healthcare system, so that when we are in need, we have decent conditions for care and prospects for young people. Where is the future of this place? The future, which, unfortunately, we constantly devalue.
You say they should be held accountable. Politicians are accountable to the ballot boxes, and you will judge them. Citizens will make their own decision. Nothing and no one will be forgotten. We will give the opportunity, and we will come the next day to build, build. Not for revenge. But set the rules. Equality rules, meritocracy rules, accountability rules. In this clientelist, Russeftological state that they have been building for 40 years. In this state and in this family government political environment. Because the same people rule, the same families rule.
We will come to give an idea of equality, meritocracy, accountability. This is our plan. And, of course, when we talk about justice everywhere, we also mean justice in justice. And in Justice, we want justice.”
