Excellent relationship Greece And Serbia said the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou during a visit to Belgrade, where she was at the invitation of the President of the country Alexander Vucic. Ms Sakellaropoulou sent a clear message of principled relationship and balance between Belgrade and Pristina so that Athens can play the role of an honest broker, usually mentioning that “as the Greek Prime Minister recently noted during a meeting he had with the Chief President on the sidelines of the Munich conference on February 17, our position on Kosovo remains firm and unchanged.”
Ms Sakellaropoulou welcomed the recent consensus reached between the two sides and added that “a sincere desire to find a solution will help move their European course forward.” Mr. Vučits, for his part, thanked Ms. Sakellaropoulou for Greece’s support for Serbia’s European integration and for the consistency she has shown in the Kosovo issue. And he noted that “Serbia supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Hellenic Republic on land, sea and air”, noting that this position is based on the principles of the UN Charter and is not going to change. This, of course, is a reference related to Belgrade’s attitude towards Kosovo as the territory of Serbia. The President of the Republic praised the stable and undisturbed relations between Greece and Serbia for over 150 years and pointed to the need for closer relations. Ms Sakellaropoulou also condemned the Russian aggression in Ukraine and also briefed Mr Vuks on the easing of tensions in Greek-Turkish relations.
