Tsapanidou: May 21 is the time for political change

For the need for political change May 21 SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance the first batch for a government that looks to many, said a spokesman for SYRIZA, Popi Tzapaniduspeaking at the conference “STAR FORUM” “Star Central Greece”.

“Mr. Mitsotakis has demonstrated for years that his priority is to serve the interests of the few and the powerful. The social majority, vulnerable groups, the middle class are not his goal,” he said.

“We see that the current government refuses to reduce VAT on food, refuses to reduce the excise tax on fuel. As a result, additional tax revenues from VAT, for example, are converted into market passes and other similar measures that end up in people’s pockets. That is why we see the middle class shrinking, the vulnerable sinking even lower, social inequality becoming huge,” Popi Tsapanidou said.

“Our priority is a lot. This may cause conflicts. But we will not face to demolish. As Alexis Tsipras says, our goal is to create. Our goal is to ensure social cohesion. So that the idea that the state is an enemy gradually leaves us. Become an ally in our lives, be by our side in all the difficulties that happen,” he explained.

When asked about her Tempe tragedy and the government’s political responsibilities, he stressed: “when you’re government for four years and we get to the point where two trains collide in Greece, you don’t share responsibility with others.” And he continued: “Whatever the problems were before, this is four years of government. They could handle them. Especially when talking about the state staff. Hasn’t this state been ringing red bells about the situation on the railroad for so many years?” Popi Tsapanidou said.

“Today we live in a regime in which there is lack of freedom, fear, in a regime that citizens cannot do in a month. The government does not support citizens not only so that they live today, but also so that they think about the prospect of their lives,” he stressed.

“People need to breathe in the state we pay for. We pay taxes, contributions and have unrivaled social security. During the pandemic, the government told us that everything is fine, that we have positive indicators, that people are not at greater risk of death when they are intubated outside of intensive care,” he said.

Referring to the previous government of SYRIZA, she stressed: “This government took the country out of the memorandums, settled the debt – so that we can be calm for many years that we do not have to pay loan installments every three or so. times – they created a pillow of 37 billion, which the Mitsotakis government was counting on. At the same time, when we got out of control, in 2018, 2019 we had record investments. We have come out of the adventure that the self-sufficient governments of the past took us out of, which led to the bankruptcy of the country,” Popi Tsapanidou stressed.

“I think the times today are such that we should all fight for the coming political changes by going to the polls first,” he said.

“After these four years, the image of the new independent government of Mitsotakis is of great concern. Their arrogance has already turned red, they feel completely out of control,” he said.

Reaffirming the position of the SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance on the possibility of forming a progressive electoral cooperation government with simple proportional representation, he noted: “The day after the vote, we will discuss with the progressive forces and everyone will be condemned. to what extent they take responsibility so that the country does not plunge into a continuous rally of pre-election contests.
