The Personal Data Protection Authority was visited by the President of SYRIZA PS Alexis Tsipraswhere he met with the president of the Independent Body, Konstantinos Menoukos, on the issue of surveillance and identity leaks.

“Today I had the opportunity to visit the Office for the Protection of Personal Data and speak with its head. A critical authority in the age of identity breach, critical and sensitive personal data,” Al said. Tsipras after the meeting.

As he pointed out, “The Office of Personal Data Protection and the Office of Telecommunications Privacy Enforcement were two independent bodies that played a critical institutional counterweight role in the Mitsotakis government’s efforts to activate every concept of the Constitution and violate the privacy of communications in order to control nearly half of the political system.”

“Mr. Mitsotakis was, in fact, the one who tried last summer, before the scandal erupted, to try to replace the two heads of the two authorities for obvious reasons,” he argued, emphasizing: “two heads played a decisive role, as prescribed Constitution, and today we know that we have conclusions that the EMP controlled party leaders, MEPs, ministers, leaders of the armed forces. And also the fact that more than 300 illegal SMS were sent through the illegal Predator software, infected SMS to more than 100 of our fellow citizens.

He emphasized that “this semi-state function is a critical issue”, opining that “in any European country, a responsible mind, an author of morality, unfortunately, the prime minister of the country would resign. Today it’s just silent. He doesn’t give answers. Because he gave no response to the recent egregious case of “Artemis Sifford, CEO of Meta, ex-Facebook, who was under surveillance both through the usual EYP method and through the illegal Predator software.”

“But the most important thing is that the database, which exists only in the Ministry of Digital Policy and concerns the appointment of vaccination, was used to send an infected message for blocking and put under surveillance. Therefore, Mr. Mitsotakis is invited to provide answers. Can a citizen today feel completely insecure even with regard to the most sensitive personal data? Even to sign up for vaccinations? Al continued. Tsipras, and concluded:

“The important thing is that today the citizen feels completely insecure in relation to the state, which, when it does not offer him any security, spies on him. And this is even in the most important data. Therefore, we need the state next to the citizen. We need a democratic, free state and a state that will ensure the security of the citizen. And this is one of the important stakes in the next elections.”
