N. Androulakis: There is no prime minister of “unknown X”

The President of PASOK-Movement for Change responded to the government’s reaction in the last few days after his interview with ERT: Nikos Androulakisfrom Sparta.

“What I said from the first day of my election, I say today. For cooperation, for the big changes that need to be made, for how to build a new relationship of trust between the political system and the citizen, and especially with the new generation that is turning away from politics. Similar. But what has changed over the past few days, and the same words, the same look made you confused in dizziness? Confusion in excitement because he knows very well that the Greek people now have zero tolerance for the Mitsotakis system, which does not respect institutions, which does not respect human rights, which despises common sense. The system of power that taught them to prioritize the interests of the oligarchy, not the interests of the people. Therefore, we have a duty: in the next national elections, Mr. Mitsotakis’s system of power must become a thing of the past. This is the duty of the Democratic Party.”

“On the one hand, it is the cause of progress, truth, common sense, dignity, public interest. And on the other hand, these are two power systems that can do anything and say anything just for a chair. For now, with the system of power of Mr. Tsipras and the system of power of Mr. Mitsotakis,” Mr. Androulakis emphasized.

What does the government say?

He returned the complaints of state officials about the allegedly unconstitutional position of the PASOK-Movement for Change. “How has the current government respected the Constitution, which is said to have stood up to the atrocities of the SYRIZA-ANEL government? To the question of wiretapping that exposed the country to the world? Watch the leader of the third party, the leaders of the Armed Forces, their ministers. Where was it heard again? But that’s what PASOK and Andreas Papandreou fought for: democracy, national pride, human rights, the rule of law. This is what all the leaders of the democratic faction fought for. And what does the domestic oligarchy require of us? Tolerate all these phenomena of decadence? And take the mandate that the Constitution gives me the right to have in my hands and propose as Prime Minister one of the main characters of discredit? They probably don’t know our history well, they don’t know our principles well, they don’t know our values well. And so, to the dizziness of confusion, we respond with a clear message, here today from Sparta, from the Peloponnese: on the night of the next national elections, PASOK guarantees new changes, a change in social dignity, a change in social justice.”

“No prime minister unknown X”

“There is no unknown Prime Minister X,” he replied to the arguments of the government representatives. “If we had named a candidate for prime minister, we would have ignored the people’s verdict. Since the government’s program is a product of program coincidences, this program should be expressed by persons in critical ministries and, of course, by the prime minister,” said Mr. Androulakis.

“We are not fighting for power. What I have said about cooperative governments is not because I am in a hurry to take some kind of power. After all, I have proven it in my political career. I do this because I see what is happening in other European countries where respect for institutions, for the citizen, for the public interest prevails. Where there is no impunity for the oligarchy and the political establishment intertwined with it,” he explained about the cooperation of governments.

“The Social Democracy of 2023 does not want a “father” state, does not want a state that is the prey of the respective rulers, it needs a state that guarantees the public interest, a state capable of protecting the interests of all of you. A state that prioritizes its services by honoring every single citizen,” added the President of PASOK-Movement for Change.

For the reappearance of Giorgos Karatsaferis

Regarding the appearance of Giorgos Karatsaferis, Mr. Androulakis said: “We have seen the supposedly liberal prime minister, Mr. Mitsotakis, walking hand in hand with Karatsaferis. He had his political children in the most important ministries, now he has accepted Karatsaferis. From here I also send him a clear message: the attacks by the far-right skeletons of New Democracy are an honor for every democrat and every democrat, just as the attacks of Kammenos, Mr. Tsipras’s far-right associate, were also an honor. This is the history of the Democratic Party. We will stand in the way of the Greek people who will once again see these far-right skeletons at the helm of government who think that PASOK will become a tool in their games of power. PASOK is back as a protagonist, PASOK by Andreas Papandreou, PASOK of the people’s struggle, PASOK of democracy, national dignity and social justice in the next national elections will be with you all on the side of the winners and on the night of elections points the way of great changes that a strong homeland needs future.”

At the same time, Mr. Androulakis noted: “When something good happens, it happens on the orders of Mitsotakis.” But when disaster strikes, Mr. Mitsotakis knows nothing. So he didn’t know Mr. Patsis, but – quite by accident – Mr. Patsis’ son was the person in charge of managing red loans in New Democracy. Mr. Mitsotakis knew nothing about wiretapping, but by chance he himself was responsible for this, because he took EYP to Megaro Maximos. He effectively put his nephew under control of the activities of the EPM and appointed the commander of the EPM he chose, changing the pre-existing law.”

For Tempi

Referring to the tragic train accident, he stressed: “In 2019, shortly before Mr. Mitsotakis became prime minister, he held an event where he accurately analyzed the decline of the country’s railway network. In 2020 and 2022, two consecutive European Railway Organization reports describe Greece as having the most dangerous network in all of Europe per kilometer. We indicated to Parliament that on October 4, 2021, the Transparency Authority sent a file to the competent Minister, Mr. Karamanlis, indicating that there is corruption and that Contract 717, signed in 2014, which was to be executed in accordance with SYRIZA in 2016 and is still not completed.

Our deputies asked Mr. Karamanlis in Parliament: “But when the official government sends you a dossier with all the corruption that exists in the OSE and your ministry, and does not allow you to carry out this work that will protect the Greek people, what have you done; Did you send the case to the prosecutor’s office? His answer was: “I did not know this information.” Where will the contempt for the intellect of the Greek people go?

He described the TRAINOSE privatization as a failure and added that “the SYRIZA executives who sold TRAINOSE for 45 million euros have the audacity to talk about a successful privatization when criticizing the 300 million euro offer a few years ago. This is populism, which they want to return. No, he should not return, so we are fighting for Mr. Mitsotakis to step down from power, but obviously not for Mr. Tsipras to return.”

Economy and energy

Referring to the Prime Minister’s statements at the last summit on the creation of energy corridors from Greece to Central Europe, he noted that PASOK-Movement for Change was the first to bring this proposal into public debate, and asked “why Mr. Mitsotakis does not implement him in Hellas; Because if we have a strong energy network inside Greece, energy, the green transition and the strengthening of renewable energy will not be a game of five oligarchs with big parks, but hundreds of livestock breeders, farmers, processors and small hoteliers.”

Finally, reviewing the PASOK-Movement for Change economic program, Mr. Androulakis stressed: “An unfair tax system cannot continue and the labor rights of workers cannot be infringed upon. Loans from the Recovery Fund can’t just go to 68 people. 1.2 billion euros with an interest rate of 1.1%, and small and medium-sized enterprises are in a really difficult situation, not being able to get liquidity from banks.”
