ISTANBUL – THE ANSWER. Ankara responds to US Human Rights Report 2022. The Turkish Foreign Ministry, in its statement, speaks of inaccurate data and unfounded allegations and notes that the report was formed for political reasons and is devoid of objectivity.

In particular, the Turkish Foreign Ministry states:

The US Department of State Human Rights Report 2022, like previous years, contains false facts about our country, baseless claims, and biased comments. We condemn and reject them completely.

For the sake of the security of our country and our region, our fight against terrorist organizations, especially PKK/PYD/YPG, FETÖ, DEAŞ and DHKP-C, continues resolutely within the framework of international law and respect for human rights. When this happens, we do not accept that this fair fight is distorted at the exhibition.

We regret that the report includes only a part of the terrorist attacks committed by the PKK in our country in 2022 and the human rights violations committed by this organization on an incomparable scale. Although the human rights violations committed by the so-called “Syrian Democratic Forces” in Syria are included in the Syria section of the report, it is ironic that it does not mention that this structure is under the control of the PKK/PYD/YPG. terrorist organization.

We draw public attention to the fact that this report was prepared by a country that turns a blind eye to the activities of the terrorist organizations PKK/PYD/YPG and FETO and even establishes “cooperation”, and we question its legitimacy and credibility. We reiterate that this report, which is clearly politically motivated and completely lacking in objectivity, cannot be taken seriously, and we urge the United States to focus on its own human rights situation.

Turkey will resolutely continue its efforts to protect and promote the rights of its citizens and the millions of people it hosts, without attaching any importance to these groundless and discriminatory accusations.
