“Today we had an extensive discussion with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, whom I thank for hosting the dinner. The discussion mainly concerned the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue after the last agreement,” Nikos Dendias said.
He also conveyed to him the greetings of the Prime Minister TO. Mitsotakis and had the opportunity to have an expanded dialogue on how the conclusions of this dialogue could be implemented.
In this context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said that Greece is a reliable interlocutor, a historical friend of Serbia, an interlocutor that plays a role in a very limited but very important agenda: stability and security in the Balkans.
In his social media posts, Nikos Dendias notes that today in Belgrade he was received by the President of Serbia, whom he congratulated on the recent agreement between Belgrade and Pristina reached in Ohrid.
“I reaffirmed Greece’s strong support for the EU’s efforts. for further progress in the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue with a view to concluding a comprehensive and legally binding agreement. We also discussed regional developments and the West’s European perspective. Balkans,” he notes in the same post.
As reported in the morning from diplomatic sources, yesterday (Tuesday) a telephone conversation took place between the President of Serbia and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece. During this conversation, the President of Serbia invited the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Nikos Dendias, to visit Belgrade today.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs accepted the invitation and made the above-mentioned visit today, during which he had a personal meeting and a working lunch with the President of Serbia.
The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Belgrade (following his visit to Pristina – 12.03.23) is part of Greece’s active support for the European proposal for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina after the agreement that was reached in Ohrid (18.3.23), emphasize the same diplomatic sources.
They also noted that Nikos Dendias will not meet with his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic, as the latter is on a business trip outside of Serbia.
