Tsipras: Why did they lie for 20 days about how Larisa’s remote control works?

IN Larisa today the president of SYRIZA, the Progressive Alliance, was found, Alexis Tsiprasaccompanied by party secretary Rania Svigu, where, together with train drivers and station chiefs, they visited the remote control center of the city’s railway station.

As noted in a related statement by SYRIZA, during his visit, Al. Tsipras “discussed with workers, machinists and station managers the circumstances under which the tragic accident occurred in Tempeas well as for guarantees that existed before 2019 and were subsequently either discredited or cancelled.”

“At the same time, it has been confirmed that the Larisa remote control, which “saw” the movement of trains from Domokos to Platys – i.e. the place of the accident – and operated until July 2019, has been completely destroyed and is not working to this day.

This is the same Remote Control Center for which the government, through ministers Gerapetritis and Economou, and also today by responsible minister K. Karamanlis in parliamentary committeefalsely claims that it was “fully functional”, attributing the accident to a purely human factor,” emphasizes the SYRIZA-PS report.

“Truth and justice are not the aim of the party. This is the requirement of Greek society. And first of all, those who lost their people in such a tragic and unexpected way,” said Al. Tsipras after inspecting the Remote Control Center of Larisa.

“The government is trying to cover up its duties with lies. 57 lost lives, however, require answers,” he stressed, and wondered: “Why was Larisa’s remote control, which was disabled in July 2019 after the fire, never restored, never worked again, and today this yapping ?

“If it had worked, the fatal incident would not have happened. Why for 20 days now the responsible voices of the government have been lying that everything is supposedly working normally?”, continued the President of SYRIZA-PS and concluded:

“The truth must come out. It is our duty to bring it to light. To hide the truth is an insult to people who have unjustly lost their lives. And this places a burden on the Mitsotakis government as significant as its responsibility for abandoning all the safety valves of the railway network, which led to the Tempi tragedy.”
