Pappas: “What remote does Larisa have? Stationmaster and eccentric”

MP from SYRIZA accuses Giorgos Gerapetritis of lying Nikos PappasCommenting on what the Minister of State for Transport and Infrastructure said in Parliament yesterday about full remote control in railway network of Larissa.

Mr. Pappas cites internal OSE documents that talk about “red lights, manual button control as well as crank control.”

“No matter how much they spread lies, they are not convincing. Neither the “human error” narrative, nor “I knew” Mitsotakis, concludes the MP for SYRIZA in his respective statement.

What G. Gerapetritis spoke about in Parliament

Recall that yesterday, speaking at the Committee on Production and Trade of the Parliament, Giorgos Gerapetritis mentioned, in particular, that the remote control in Larisa was handed over to the government in 2019 damaged, because there was a fire at the plant. the beginning of that year.

“The remote control was restored to full operation in Larisa on November 1, 2022, and on the night of the accident, the remote control was “fully functional,” he said. Also, according to him, two station chiefs were provided, who, unfortunately, were not in their place at a critical moment.

“I want this to be clearly recorded in the protocol. Larisa’s remote control center worked at full capacity. All that day, all train routes were carried out using automatic marking through the remote control center. It worked great. Unfortunately, what happened was that the particular stationmaster preferred instead of automatic marking, which would obviously have prevented evil, to do manual routing. And there was a series, a series of tragic events that together led to the accident,” said Giorgos Gerapetritis.

He added: “There was no automatic engraving, although the board worked. The stationmaster thought with all confidence that the keys were on the ascending line, and on the descending one, in the end he made a diagonal move and ended up on the opposite track. In addition, the stationmaster was not in front of the control panel to see the movement of the train. And there was no automatic marking, and it was mistakenly assumed that the keys were on the rise when they were on the way down, and there was no confirmation of the route the train was taking through the remote control that was there and worked.

Finally, Mr. Gerapetritis pointed out that since there was a remote control in Larissa, the automatic marking had to be done by remote control, because it was an obligation imposed by the OSE itself with its special circular and reference to the Regulation of 23.12. 2022 “There was no automatic engraving. Obviously, it was a personal choice,” the state minister said.
