Tempi: Meeting in Maximos for the opening of the railway

A meeting chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Minister of State for Transport and Infrastructure Giorgos Gerapetritis will take place today at 12:30 pm at Megaros Maksimos to ensure security Railway and restart media.

The meeting will be attended by the interim administrations of OSE and ERGOSE, as well as representatives of Hellenic Train.

Opening first with the Athens suburban train

On Monday, G. Gerapetritis was preceded by a series of meetings with railroad representatives to formulate a final framework for his safe re-operation until the new ETCS remote control and signaling system enters service at the end of next September.

At the second meeting in a row, the workers put forward a package of proposals for the speedy, safe restart of routes and the restoration of the confidence of both workers and the passenger community.

However, according to the railways, the “green light” is supposed to be given first to the resumption of the routes of the Athens commuter train, which has full remote control, as well as the resumption of the movement of freight trains, and then passenger trains.

At the same time, Hellenic Train announced bus routing for passenger traffic on some routes until the restoration of rail traffic.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, Mr. Gerapetritis will brief the Permanent Commission of Parliament on Industry and Commerce on the results of the autopsy he carried out a few days ago, both at the site of the train tragedy in Tempe and at the OSE in Thessaloniki, at the control center.

It is noted that both Kyriakos Mitsotakis at a cabinet meeting last week and Giorgos Gerapetritis at a press conference he gave indicated that the opening of the railway would take place as soon as possible with the greatest possible safety.

In fact, the Minister of State mentioned that the railway could reopen by the end of the month.
