At the site of a train wreck in Tempe Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was found shortly after 12 noon on Wednesday.
In a brief statement to journalists, Mr. Mitsotakis spoke of the “ineffable tragedy”, emphasizing that all thoughts are with the families of the victims first.
“Our responsibility is to help the wounded and identify the bodies,” he said.
And pointedly concluded: “From now on, I can only guarantee one thing: we will find out the causes of this tragedy and do everything in our power to ensure that this never happens again.”
Recall that the decision of the Prime Minister announced three days of national mourning for victims of a railway accident from 1 to 3 March 2023 with flags at half-staff in all public buildings and the cessation of mass celebrations.
