The Brussels Court of Appeal will decide tomorrow morning whether Eva Kylie remains in custody or not.
This was confirmed to APE by a spokesman for the Brussels Court of Appeal, pointing out that the hearing was “behind closed doors”.
In addition, tomorrow the Court of Appeal will consider a petition for the release of Belgian MEP Marc Tarabella.
Recall that after the decision of the pre-trial council on February 16 to extend the pre-trial detention of Eva Kaili for two months, her lawyer Sven Mari filed an appeal, which, according to the procedure, is considered within 15 days. Mr. Tarabella’s lawyer did the same.
Protecting Eva Kylie will require her release from prison via an electronic bracelet. In the event of a negative decision by the appeals court, Ms Kylie will remain in custody for two months.
Finally, the Brussels prosecutor’s office confirmed to APE-MPE that Eva Kaili’s partner and defendant in the European Parliament corruption case, Francesco Giorgi, was released today from Saint-Gilles prison with an electronic bracelet. F. Giorgi was arrested on December 9 and released by decision of the Pre-trial Council on February 23.
