The “legacy” of Blinken’s visit and the questions of the next day

His short trip Anthony Blinken in Europe and Turkey ended, leaving behind both positive impressions and expectations.

The head of the State Department successively visited Munich (to attend a security conference), Ankara and Athens. And if his meeting with senior Chinese diplomat Wang Yi in the Bavarian capital did not go as well as American reports suggest, the same cannot be said for visits to Athens and Ankara, which, by contrast, took place in a politically favorable environment.

“I am leaving Athens after a productive day of meetings,” the US Secretary of State tweeted. A few hours earlier, he opened the new north wing of the American embassy in Athens. He also announced the opening of the 4th round of the Greek-American Strategic Dialogue with Nikos Dendias, and also met with members of EMAK and EKAB, whom he thanked for their contribution to to save human lives in earthquake-affected areas of Turkey.
