
Greek-American and Greek-Turkish relations, as well as the development of the Ukrainian language, were the focus of today’s meeting of the President of SYRIZA-PS, Alexis Tsipraswith the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinkenaccording to the announcement of SYRIZA-PS.
As noted, its President SYRIZA-PS he emphasized the importance of developing multi-level Greek-American strategic cooperation on a mutually beneficial basis in such a way as to strengthen the role of Greece as a pillar of peace and stability, as well as an energy and economic pillar in the new architecture of the region.
He also noted that war in Ukraine led to increased tensions in Greek-Turkish relations, increased Turkish aggression and competition on the southern flank of NATO, adding that the US role cannot be limited to selling weapons to Greece and statements after violations, as well as sending messages of tolerance for Turkish aggression (Eastmed pipeline, selling F-16).
In addition, according to the same statement, he stressed that the atmosphere of solidarity and cooperation after the deadly earthquakes in Turkey should be used to create a new dynamic in Greek-Turkish relations by promoting a constructive dialogue based on international law with regard to applying to The Hague for a continental offshore/EEZ.
In this context, he mentioned that the US should play a critical role in putting pressure on Turkey to advance this dialogue. with two clear red lines which are consistent with the principles that stand out at the international level – the territorial integrity of Greece and its right to defend the territorial integrity of its islands with a military presence.
At the same time, he stressed that after the elections, every effort must be made to resume negotiations for a fair and sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue on the basis of UN resolutions, without guarantees and occupying troops.

The President of SYRIZA-PS also referred to the proposals he put forward, both on the interconnection of Greek-Turkish and Euro-Turkish relations, and on the expansion of Greek territorial waters in the Eastern Mediterranean and the delimitation of the EEZ/coastline. with neighboring countries, with Cyprus on the table.
At the same time, he emphasized the need to make every effort of the international community to stop the illegal and bloody Russian invasion of Ukraine and Moscow’s return to diplomacy, adding that each country chooses how to show solidarity with the Ukrainian people in their struggle based on their principles, their geopolitical position and the threats they face. Finally, he pointed out that Greece can make its contribution, in accordance with its role as a pillar of peace and stability in the region, without sending military equipment and even from its islands.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister George Katrugalos, Deputy Minister of Defense George Tsipras and the diplomatic adviser to the President of SYRIZA-PS.
