Theory: Postponement showing elections

The elections appear to have been “locked” – except in exceptional circumstances – for 9 April, as evidenced by a number of government moves. Among other things, I have to add what happened in the background. The Ministry of Health was preparing a big event at which it will present not only its work, but also plans for the next four years. The order from above was to move the event to mid-March, so that it would obviously be closer to the elections. I remind you that, as Kyriakos Mitsotakis said, health care is one of the sectors that will be given importance in the next presidential term if the New Democracy wins the elections again. Thus, her plans for mid-March confirm that all roads lead to April 9th.

Rivalries and alliances

Things got wild in Athens, rivalries and alliances created an interesting scene. On the one hand, Vassilis Kikilias opened a direct front with Kyriakos Pierrakakis in an attempt to disorganize the powerful minister. Nearby are other deputies of the First Athens, abbots Nikitas Kaklamanis and Olga Kefalogiannis. On the other hand, the one with a softer stance is Thanos Pleuris, who not only attended Pierrakakis’ latest event, but also spoke at the Health panel, taking a different stance. At the same time, the event was also attended by Fotini Pipili, who is pursuing a different strategy, while Angelos Sirygos, who now has his own audience, is on a lonelier path, as in previous elections. With those and those, the battle in Athens took on a wild beauty that will surely keep us on our toes.

Traditional performances

Lately, there has been some fermenting at Maxim’s internal meetings as to whether the established open demonstrations in Athens and Thessaloniki, as is customary on the Wednesday and Friday before the elections, will be held in the traditional way. One point of view is that times have changed and something else could have been done. Another says the policy is essentially unchanged and meetings should be held in the traditional way. On the facts, tradition is winning so far, not to mention the fact that “we are not open to new ideas,” as a source in the government tells K.

Homeric wisdom

There is a Homeric phrase that says: “dosis oligi te filie te”. In modern Greek, “a gift small but welcome.” MEP from SYRIZA Kostas Arvanitis, with his furious statements, where he equated superiority with Nazism, called Mitsotakis a fraudster and predicted … hands in satisfaction. With such gifts that he constantly receives, it is convenient for Mitsotakis to answer even for a capsule. That some of the representatives of the official opposition will even feel a little.
