Greece continues to stand in solidarity with the Turkish people, who are experiencing devastating earthquakes, and respond to the request of the Turkish authorities for humanitarian assistance, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
According to the same announcement, today the ship M/V Neptune Okeanis with Turkish humanitarian aid is expected to depart from the port of Piraeus (car terminal – G2) to the port of Alexandretta (Iskenderun). The humanitarian material is part of the assistance to Greek citizens collected by the municipalities, regions and agencies of the country.
In particular, four trucks are carrying 250 cubic meters of essentials such as blankets, bedding, heaters, personal hygiene items and medicines, which were requested by the Turkish authorities as a matter of priority. The vessel for the transfer of humanitarian aid to Turkey is offered on a non-commercial basis by Neptune Lines Shipping & Management Enterprises, owned by Melina Travlow.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andreas Katsaniotis assumed responsibility for coordinating all activities for the organization, collection and dispatch of humanitarian materials.
