WITH full program of legislative workwhose rhythms provoke even his leaders SYRIZA protests over its density have been ongoing since Monday parliamentary proceedingsmoreover, the official opposition party has been maintaining the paradox of its self-exclusion from voting on the bill for the third week already.
The first bill submitted to the plenary meeting on Monday was the bill of the Ministry of Culture entitled “Modernization of museum policy and issues of cultural heritage management.” This is followed on Tuesday by the National Defense Competence Bill, under which the civilian non-profit company Cyclops authorizes a donation agreement to the State for the “Establishment of a Naval Delivery Park – Authorization of a donation agreement between the company and the Greek State.” The very next day, the final discussion and adoption of the draft law of the Ministry of Justice entitled “The principle of equal treatment regardless of disability or chronic illness, updating the terminology of the Civil Code, the Code of Civil Procedure, the Criminal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Code of Administrative Procedure, the Notarial Code and Law 4478/2017 to harmonize it with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and other provisions relating to the alleviation of the situation of persons with disabilities.”
Also in public consultations are the legislative acts of the ministries: a) education with provisions on preventing and combating violence and bullying in schools, b) internal affairs, among other things, for the “Innovation System in the Public Sector”, c) two responsibilities Justice, with one on the one hand, for the “Spatial reorganization of ordinary administrative courts, the organization of a telematic meeting and the creation of telematic judicial stations”, and on the other hand, for declarations of property status (“pothen esches”). At the same time, the public discussion of the legislation “Regulations on the protection of the institutional foundations of sports and the rationalization of sports legislation” (Culture and Sports), as well as the “Regulations on the occupied property of the state” (Finance) has been completed.
We also recall that in the past cabinet meetingamong other things, bills were presented for the Hellenic Book (Culture) foundation, as well as for justice organizations for juvenile protection societies and forensic services.
As you know, the official opposition party, by decision of its president, has since January 31 adopted the paradoxical tactic of participating in all procedures of legislative work (nomination of bodies for hearing, criticism, etc.), but not in voting – a tactic that has also been subjected to disparaging shots from the opposition parties. In this environment, on behalf of SYRIZA, Mr. T. Dricas, during the debate on the legislation of the Ministry of Health, recently protested the intensive pace of consideration of bills: “Why is the Parliament, workers, deputies, employees no longer overtired; To have the comfort of the time. It’s not a problem”. Other SYRIZA MPs often question the right of the “outgoing government” to initiate legislation.
The majority, as on Friday, through Deputy Minister of Justice G. Kotsiras in Parliament, responds that the government’s term of office and, therefore, its legislative work continues until the announcement of elections and the dissolution of Parliament, and that the ministers did not put down their pencils while waiting for the ballot boxes.
