Marius Budai announces that one of the most important projects of the ministry he heads is the reform related to the minimum income for inclusion, which involves encouraging the work of those who can legally and due to health conditions have a job. “I look at what the family needs, but I also look at those who are legally and health-wise able to work, and I don’t give them any support if they don’t want to work,” says the Labor Minister .
“I am proud to tell you what the measures to promote employment mean, we have already transferred 57 million euros from another funding line, we have already accessed them from November 2022, we have already concluded agreements with the private sector to subsidize and primarily encouraging youth employment in Romania and, above all, to protect jobs. And the measures taken by this political coalition, the balance between social measures and economic measures, created more than 100,000 new jobs in Romania in 2022, using European funds. There are 100,000 Romanian souls who have found a purpose by having a job,” Marius Budei said on Saturday in Alba Iulia during a debate on access to European funds, News.ro reported.
In this context, he spoke about the minimum income for inclusion.
“We still have a very important reform, also for European money: a minimum income for inclusion. Don’t jump on me, especially in a private environment! (…) The minimum income for inclusion is very well placed and based on three very important pillars. The first is to avoid poverty and lift as many people as possible out of poverty and the risk of poverty. The second one focuses on encouraging employment: I look at what the family needs, but I also look at those who are legally and healthily able to work, and I no longer provide them with any support if they don’t want to work. First of all, let’s direct them to a career, let’s show them that they can be useful to society, and let’s direct those who can work to work,” says Buday.
He explained that those who can work and are part of families who want to receive the minimum income of inclusion will be automatically registered in the databases of employment agencies as people looking for work.
“In the future, a family for whom we will replace this social assistance with a minimum income, when the file is approved, this person or persons who are legally and health-fit for work will be automatically registered with the District Employment Agency, they will be called to the district employment agencies, there they will be consulted, there they will be qualified for employment. He refuses this, which means he does not need the minimum income of inclusion,” explained the minister.
The Minister of Labor adds that the third level of minimum income for inclusion aims to prevent school dropouts and encourage learning.
