PASOK: Yes to government amendment to block ‘Cassidiari party’

“Yes” to the amendment made by the majority in the government for “bloc” in the participation of the party of Ilias Kasidiaris in the elections of 2023PASOK is voting, party chairman Nikos Androulakis said in a statement.

As noted Nikos AndroulakisConsistently and with a sense of responsibility we support an amendment that protects the Republic from this criminal organizationwho committed murders and carried out a series of pogroms against the townspeople and immigrants.

Statement by Nikos Androulakis:

PASOK has been at the forefront of national reconciliation since its founding, as well as the fight against the apologists of Hitlerism.

In 2013, when our Movement organized a communication campaign to demonstrate that the Golden Dawn is a criminal organization, and at the same time spoke about the need to protect a democratic state from the phenomenon of neo-Nazism, other political forces “blurred” the organization in question. Either leave open the possibility of cooperating with the “serious Golden Dawn” as the typical New Democracy officials used to say, or adopt in parliament the unacceptable doctrine on behalf of the SYRIZA officials that “there are no wanted and unwelcome votes”, solely in order to, together with Chrysaugites to promote the bills they like.

It was after my personal letter in October 2020 to the late President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, that the doors of the European Parliament were permanently closed to convicted MEP Yannis Lagos, despite the delay shown by the then government.

However, unfortunately, over the years, some have changed their minds, looking at the polls, calculating, above all, the political cost. True to the logic of “the end justifies the means.” This is evidenced by the fact that we managed to pass the law at the last minute, just before the elections.

Today, PASOK – The Movement for Change continues, true to its tradition, to be at the forefront of the fight to defend democracy and its institutions.

That’s why we submitted comments that led to an improvement in an amendment that, since it first saw the light of day, created significant problems.

Following the positive opinion of the Scientific Service of the Parliament on its constitutionality, we consistently and with a sense of responsibility support an amendment that protects the Republic from this criminal organization that has committed murders and carried out a series of pogroms against citizens and immigrants.
