Theory: “Blue” episode in Piraeus.

An unusual episode for … holidays occurred at the cutting of the pie of the Piraeus Metropolis. In attendance were Domna Michaelidou and ESEE President Vassilis Korkidis, among others, who, upon seeing the Deputy Minister, severely criticized her for… the criticism she had made of Child’s Smile. As you know, the deputy minister started a tough war with the structure, and the ESEE president urged her not to continue it, saying that Smile is engaged in social work. Of course, many see the upcoming elections as the cause of the incident, because Domna is a rival of the current deputy and son-in-law of Korkidis Yannis Melas. Anyway, the episode quickly ended and at least Mihailidou left with a smile as she got the gold soon after.

Through two MIA

However, the “blue” rivalry, which has been dormant until now, comes to the surface as we enter the final part of the election. For example, in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Minister Makis Voridis and his deputy Stelios Petsas are officially rivals, since they rule in the same region, Eastern Attica, and this cannot but affect their relations 3-4 months before the elections and together with the ministry, which is cut in two .

Elections and coronavirus

A government official told me this on New Year’s Eve, and the truth is, I didn’t really believe it. So he told me that the elections could be a little later, that is, in May, if we need to take … some measures on the coronavirus in connection with a possible outbreak. Before you start talking, the European Union took the first step yesterday by recommending a mandatory test for those traveling from China. Hard restrictions such as lockdowns are unlikely to be seen, but if things get worse, it may smell of … measures to keep the situation from getting out of hand. Even so, I suppose the timing of the election is unlikely to make a difference, but since the government official who gave me this idea is a high-ranking official, I’m just jotting it down for the record.

In Gavdos

Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be at the southernmost point of Greece on Epiphany Day, on a symbolic visit following the recent Turkish “casus belli” threats, if Athens expands its territorial waters to 12 nautical miles. The prime minister will arrive on the island by helicopter.
