New distribution seats in parliament behind elections region, as shown by the final results of the census of legal population – 2021 residences published by the Hellenic Statistical Office (ELSTAT), officially announced by the Ministry of the Interior.

Seat-winning regions

Based on the latest distribution of seats established by Presidential Decree 117/2018 – Official Gazette 225/A/31-12-2018, two seats are awarded to the East Attica constituency and one seat to the North, West and South sector of Athens, as well as the 1st constituency of Thessaloniki.

Regions that are losing ground

In contrast, constituencies 1 in Athens, 1 in Piraeus, Arta, Kozani, Magnesia, Serra, Phthiotis, Thesprotia and Kastoria lose one seat. In fact, the last two regions become one-sided.

This distribution also includes the influence of three seats removed from constituencies to be added to the state ballot to represent overseas residents.

It is noted that the Minister of the Interior Makis Voridis instructed the Department of Elections of the Ministry to start preparing a corresponding presidential decree, which will reflect the above changes and which should be issued before January 10, 2023.
