Tsipras New Year’s Message: New Year can be a year of hope

“The coming year can be a year of hope because it will be the first year of change,” says the president of SYRIZA-PS. Alexis Tsiprasin his New Year’s message.

“New Year’s Eve is always a day of hope, no matter how difficult the circumstances, no matter how difficult the past year has been.

But the coming year may indeed be a year of hope, as it will be the first year of change. The year when justice will finally begin to impose its normality on the economy, society, work, state, everywhere.

In 2022, all recipes for a policy that puts profit, super-profit, dirty self-interest above people were tested on the body of the Motherland.

Above justice, above dignity.

Above, even, and the right to survive.

You don’t need someone to show you the bill. You live it every day. At home, at work, at school, at the university, in the supermarket, in the unemployment lines and in the humiliation of various “passes” that leave charity for many and the most difficult speculations for the few.

In the face of this barbaric invasion, there is one desire and hope spreading in society: that this nightmare stop here.

A precision nightmare that besets millions of households.

The nightmare of the dissolution of all state structures, the deprivation of the public health service, which has already claimed thousands of lives.

The nightmare of the image of malnourished children, children who wait for months in line for surgery, young people who are forbidden to even dream of a future education and creative life.

A nightmare of legal abuse, with wiretapping and trying to hide it, with lies, propaganda and division used to cover up an unprecedented redistribution in favor of the powerful few and at the expense of the majority.

2023 will be the year when this wish and hope will come true.

In terms of political change, not a deal.

With clean hands.

On terms not of revenge, but of justice. The justice that no matter what political camp you belong to, no matter what party you vote for, you cannot fail to understand it and not look for it.

There is justice for all of us.

There are changes in all of us.

Our own dividends in light will be won by our own attitude, our own solidarity and our own struggle.

I sincerely wish everyone a Happy New Year.”
