Today, the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, heard traditional Christmas carols from Thrace to the island of Kastellorizo ​​and hymns about health and well-being at the Presidential Palace.

A special moment that touched both Ms. Sakellaropoulou and everyone present when the multi-awarded Ms. Evangelia Xenopoulou, President of the Kastelorizo ​​Music and Dance Group Association, sang the traditional hymns of the island and dedicated a song to her own late Kira tis Rho.

Wearing the traditional dress of Kastelorizos and holding the Greek flag, Ms. Xenopoulou also sang an impromptu mantinade in honor of the President of the Republic and expressed particular joy at her frequent visits to the uncritical island of Greece.

Ms. Xenopoulou was awarded by the Academy of Athens and is known both in Greece and abroad for her contribution to the preservation and dissemination of the cultural heritage of Kastelorizos.

Like every year, the solemn ceremony at the Presidential Palace began with a performance by the Orchestra of the Armed Forces, which performed carols and Holy Night in honor of the President of the Republic in front of her office and exchanged congratulations on the holiday.

Afterwards, Ms. Sakellaropoulou heard Christmas carols and traditional Thracian hymns performed by the Presidential Guard next to the large Christmas tree in the Presidential Palace’s Credential Room, followed by agencies and associations.

First, carols were sung to the President by young pupils of the Salami private kindergarten “Little Euripides”, and immediately after the Ursulin Greek-French school gymnasium.

This was followed by Epirote carols and traditional dances performed by members of the Epirote Cultural Association of St. Barbara “APIROTAN” and then the Cretan Dressmakers Association, who sang Cretan Christmas carols, danced traditional Cretan dances and dedicated a special mandinade to the president. Republic.

As their leader said: “Meterizi has the first female president. With the knowledge, ethics and humanity that characterize you,” and expressed gratitude to Ms. Sakellaropoulou, characteristically saying, “We are happy and proud of our president.”

At the end of the ceremony, Ms. Sakellaropoulou exchanged greetings with journalists and photographers, and together they took a memorable photo.
