Table meetings without “bread” between SYRIZA and PASOK

Christos Spirtzis and Dimitris Reppas met about a week ago to eat at the Old Market. The SYRIZA MP is the party’s main link to PASOK and a former member of the “Team of Captains”, a close associate of George Papandreou. Their longtime friendship and frequent contacts lower the bar of expectations for those who quickly foresaw that something new was “in the works” in the centre-left space.

This was followed on Wednesday by former Prime Minister’s scathing criticism of Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s visit to Achaia, his place of origin: “The chaos separating words from deeds cannot be covered up by the prime minister’s lengthy communicative visits to the country’s regions.” Giorgos Papandreou said characteristically. Is something really “preparing”?

“K” may know that there is no open channel of communication between the two parties. And since this is the decision of Nikos Androulakis of Komunduru, they do not insist on anything more. It is not known that on November 7 Alexis Tsipras, along with almost all the leaders of SYRIZA, was at an event organized by the Zero Hour Initiative on surveillance and the role of the media.

There was discussion in official opposition circles about the absence of the PASOK president in debates that directly concerned him, and in a move supported by a number of middle-level figures. And the explanation given to the Wells party is once again that the head of Harilaou Trikoupis does not want to have any connection with the president of SYRIZA. The fact that the two parties have the same agenda, or rather, monitoring, does not suit PASOK, since the official opposition does not leave much free space for their green comrades.

Komunduru tries to overcome Androulakis’s refusal by contacting local government officials from PASOK.

Nikos Androulakis does not deviate from his decision on an independent course, and Alexis Tsipras decided not to open a front with Harilaou Trikoupis, no matter what they say. The “hard work” on the answers was taken on by people who from the first moment declared their support for progressive management, such as Nikos Bistis. “Don’t lose a single point at equal distances,” commented on Friday the head of the political planning department on the topic of auctions and the position of Harilaou Trikoupis.

Criticism, of course, is also raised by Umbrella leaders, who, in any case, express reservations about cooperation with PASOK. Nikos Filis, Panos Skourletis and others inside and outside the parliament they are pulling Nikos Androulakis by the “left sleeve”, causing irritation in his right wing.

The exit to the Center Square, which was decided by the SYRIZA conference, is “lame” and this is largely reflected in the public opinion polls. The Polytechnic generation, at the launch of Mimi Androulakis’ book in the presence of Kostas Laliotis, showed their unity against the attacks they receive from the right. However, when the “sand in the hourglass is empty,” useful historical memories and finds of camaraderie give way to reality. The great center-left, whom Alexis Tsipras wants to form, has not advanced so far, because the figure of personalities who will lead the political center to the threshold of Kumundur has not been formed. At the same time, SYRIZA did not function as a large reservoir that could directly receive anti-right voters.

The brake that PASOK has placed on SYRIZA to implement the progressive management plan has forced the official opposition to seek other avenues. The outcome of the first and second national votes is now directly linked to the local elections to be held next October. “Two parties, one space” was the motto of the Koumoundourou team at the week-long annual KEDE conference. Kostas Zachariadis could not clarify the situation, because, according to “K”, in his speech he mentioned that PASOK paved the way for major reforms that were carried out in Greece at the local government level. Other party sources speak of more than 10 large municipalities that have recorded cooperation with PASOK and other forces. The appointments made by Christos Spircis with several local lords (Chr. Voskopoulos of Kaisariani, G. Ioakemidis of Nicaea, A. Gundaras of Agia Larissa, etc.) had as their main direction the expansion of cooperation. For the mayor of Agia, the latest information indicates that he will not accept a second time SYRIZA’s proposal to appoint a candidate for the governorship of the region, and efforts are already being made to contact Kostas Bargiotas, who also comes from the Center. . Stavros Arnautakis will be the undisputed candidate for Crete while, at least for Thrace and the Peloponnese, the ferment is moving forward for a common candidate. The ongoing discussions go beyond the territory of the Center, as information indicates that relations between SYRIZA and Petros Tatoulis are already moving to the level of acquaintance, without political content.

Scouting in the region

The Komunduru argues that this period is best suited for the conclusion of new alliances. The surveillance case has awakened the “democratic feelings” of old centrist figures who say they are ready to act. In order not to lose momentum, many deputies, as well as members of the Political Secretariat and the Central Committee, come and go to the provinces with a suitcase in hand. It is expected that around mid-December, most of the names on the ballot for the national elections will be announced.
