In his speech by the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciuc, to the meeting of the joint houses of the Parliament, he appealed to the political forces, regardless of whether they are in power or in the opposition, to sign a moratorium in order to stop unnecessary political battles and to bring “the pre-election character of 2023”.
The Prime Minister stated that Romania has a historic chance to complete the main outstanding projects of the modernization of the Romanian state by accelerating the integration into the European Union and thanks to the investments provided by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan for the coming years.
“To achieve these goals of the country, we must make the transition from small politics to big politics. We must act as true statesmen, with wisdom, responsibility and moderation, so as not to miss a unique historical moment for the development of Romania, Cucê said.
Axis of development, in the vision of the Prime Minister
They believe that the greatest danger comes from the promotion of narrow, populist, illiberal, extremist political views that turn people against the state and discredit the state through lies, manipulation or fake news.
Another less visible danger in our society, says the Prime Minister, but with profound negative consequences, is electoral action in the absence of elections.
“Modernization of the state is impossible if every political party thinks in terms of percentages and transitional situations. People do not expect well-written messages, but well-constructed government actions.
On December 1, the Day of Unity of All Romanians, I would like to appeal to the political parties represented in the Parliament, civil society and the media: let’s implement a moratorium, let’s all try to overcome the pre-election nature of 2023. in parenthesis Let’s use the next year to take a break from electoral competition. Let’s together, the government and the opposition, have a balanced and rational discussion about the future of Romania,” said Čuke.
In his opinion, in order for the project of the future country to be implemented, it should focus on the following topics:
- the profile of the Romanian economy in the present and the future,
- education and solving the demographic problem,
- the pension system as a whole,
- health care system,
- administrative and territorial reform,
- Romania’s role in a changing world.
