“AUR succeeded for the first time in rejecting in the Romanian Parliament a communication to the European Parliament and the Council that mentioned “gender equality” and “LGBTIQ”. This information is shared by AUR through a press release sent by AUR MP Dan Tenase, President of the Commission for Equal Opportunities for Men and Women in the Chamber of Deputies. However, the truth is reinterpreted by those from AUR and advertise it as a success of the party.
A press release sent by AUR states that as part of the “Equal Opportunities Commission for Women and Men, chaired by AUR MP Dan Tanase, the Action Plan for Youth within the framework of the EU’s external activities for the period 2022-2027 received a negative conclusion, as the document, among other things, contains references to “gender equality” and “LGBTIQ”.
- Dan Tenase, AUR: “AI was at the premiere in the Parliament of Romania. For the first time, the Committee of the Legislative Forum rejected the Communication to the European Parliament and the Council on a specific topic. During the debate, we drew attention to the fact that the text of the message contains the phrase “gender equality” as well as the phrase “LGBTIQ”, and European Christians are not defended. My negative proposal was approved by the majority of those present and I want to publicly thank my colleagues for this. It is possible in another way, and not just to approve on the conveyor belt what the bureaucrats from Brussels send us,” says the press release of AUR deputy Dan Tanase.
In the agenda of the Commission on Equal Opportunities from November 16, under the fourth item, there was information on the Youth Action Plan within the framework of EU external activities for the period 2022-2027. More precisely, in fact, the document was only an information note, which did not have the role of a bill, a draft decision, and did not require a specialist’s opinion.
As a result of the work of the commission from November 16, 2022published on the website of the Chamber of Deputies, it is stated that “The Commission on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men was referred to a non-legislative document to check the fundsend the draft opinion to the Commission on European Affairs, which is referred to the merits.
According to the results of the discussions, the members of the commission decided by a majority of votes to draw up p negative project conclusion. According to the same document, 11 out of 16 members of the commission were present at the work of the commission:
- Dan Tanase (AUR),
- Janina Sherban (AUR),
- Carmen Holban (PSD),
- Raisa Yenachi (AUR),
- Viorika Sandu (PSD),
- Dumitru Koarne (politically unaffiliated),
- Andy Grosaru (Minorities),
- Claudio-Augustin Ilishanu (PSD),
- Rodika Paraskiv (PSD),
- Gabriel Playasu (not politically affiliated)
- Emanuel Ungurianu (USR)
Absent deputies:
- Mara Calista (PNL),
- Oana Kambera (MARK),
- Eva Chep (UDMR),
- Ionel Danke (Right Force)
- Christina Rizea (MARKET)
HotNews.ro contacted the members of the Equal Opportunities Commission to find out how the debate on the Youth Plan went and what is the value of the adopted document.
After the discussions, we found, according to the statements of the parliamentarians present at the meeting on November 16, that the majority referred to by Dan Tenase, who voted for the “negative draft conclusion”, was 4 deputies out of 16 members of the commission. In addition, the attendance of members at the meeting was less than published in an official document published on the website of the Chamber of Deputies and signed by the president of the commission, Dan Tenase.
At the same time, The “negative opinion” given to the Youth Plan is only a negative draft opinion” without legislative significance.
How was the debate in the committee and who voted for and who against
USR MP Emanuil Ungurianu explained to HotNews.ro that during the debate the document “was presented in a lapidary form by the President of the Commission as a statement”.
“It was not a stormy debate. I, for one, held back because I thought it looked like the platform AUR wanted to climb. There is a fear that the globalists from time to time throw down the same platform, Brussels, which goes with the LGBT-ists,” said the UDR deputy.
Ungurianu explained to HotNews.ro that no opinion was given on the draft law or the draft decision on the parliament’s statement, but it was “only the position of the president of the commission and three other colleagues who share his faith.”
- Emanuel Ungurianu, USAR: “As far as I remember, I was new to the gym, but I can’t prove that I don’t have a video in that sense. Four voted for President Dan Tenase’s recommendation, three voted against and two abstained. As far as I remember, Mr. Koarne and Mr. Grosaru voted for, those from the PSD were against, and two abstained.”
- Rodika Paraskiv, PSD: “We, those of the PSD, did not vote for what President Dan Tenesa proposed. I remember that there were four votes “for a negative opinion”, three against, the rest abstained.
- Claudio-Augustin Ilishanu, PSD: “I was absent from the commission meeting on November 16. I don’t know why I am listed as present in the final report of the debate. That day I was present at the meeting of the environmental committee. Some of us are members of two commissions, and obviously we chose the more important commission that gives a specialized report. As far as I know, there were three of my colleagues who voted against President Dan Tenase’s proposal.”
Hotnews.ro tried to contact the president of the equal opportunities commission, Dan Tanase, for more information, but he sent a Whatsapp message to “consult” with the results of the commission’s work.
Why were other members of the commission absent?
Among the 16 members of the Commission on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men, seven parliamentarians were absent, according to PSD and USR statements. HotNews.ro managed to contact some of the missing. PNL MPs Mara Kalista, Eva Chep (UDMR) and Oana Kambera (REPER) claim that parliamentary activity has prevented them from achieving the work of the equal opportunities commission.
- Mara Calista (PNL): “I did not participate in this meeting because I was present at the labor committee. I saw Dan Tenase’s statement. This does not surprise me, because this is the position of the commission. When he sees gender equality, he often has an uncontrolled reaction and makes the mistake of not distinguishing between his personal opinion and the committee’s position. We are trying to block such reactions, PSD colleagues were the ones who spoke against it in the committee, as far as I know.”
- Oana Aleksandra Kambera, non-factional deputy (REPER): “I did not participate, because very often it happens that the activities of the state administration commission, of which I am a member, coincide. On November 16, I went to Barcelona on an official trip. Unfortunately, there are situations when they assume that from the position they hold, representatives of AUR promote their party ideologies. At the equal opportunities commission, when there is a quorum, colleagues block these personal opinions.”
- Eva Chep (UDMR): I was not present because the equal opportunities meeting coincided with the Labor Committee meeting.
- Ionel Dancă, non-factional deputy (Forța Dreptei): “I was absent for personal reasons, family purposes.”
