
in the east Libya The Minister of Foreign Affairs will visit tomorrow, Thursday, November 17, Nikos Dendiaswhere he will hold talks with House Speaker Aguila Saleh Issa, as well as other Libyan officials, the Foreign Ministry said.
During the visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Greek government, will deliver a donation of vaccines against the coronavirus COVID-19.
During his stay in Benghazi, Mr. Dendias will also take part in an event dedicated to Greece’s contribution to the UN World Food Program (World Food Programme) program to rehabilitate the port of Benghazi.
The port is of particular importance as a gateway for humanitarian aid to sub-Saharan Africa to address the food crises the region is facing.
In addition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will meet with the Chairman of the Greek Community of Benghazi.
The Greek Minister’s discussions with Libyan officials during his visit are expected to focus on strengthening Greek-Libyan cooperation, always based on respect for international law and especially the law of the sea, on relations between the European Union and Libya, and on wider development in the Mediterranean region. It is also expected to discuss the constitutional basis for the early holding of elections in Libya.
It is noted that the Foreign Minister visited Eastern Libya in April 2021.
