Prime Minister Nicolae Čuke says there is no money in the budget to give Nikušor Dan to pay the debts of Termoenergetica, and the Mayor General should have solved the problem of the thermal plant in Bucharest.
“This is a matter for local authorities. The municipality is obliged to solve this problem. Since last year, I called the mayor’s office to discuss and to the institutions of the system to solve the heat problem during the holidays, then I invited the mayor to present a concrete plan to solve this systemic problem. So far, the solution is either to raise the debt ceiling or to give money from the budget. Let’s give the money from the budget to the local authorities that could solve the problem, we definitely won’t have it. There are other settlements that are in a much more difficult situation. The way out, from my point of view, is to raise the ceiling and solve their problems,” the head of government said.
On November 9, the general mayor of the capital, Nikushor Dan, again appealed to the government to allocate the necessary money to the municipality to pay the debts accumulated in Termoenergetica, in case the prices for the population and subsidies are not increased. as soon as ANRE increased the tariff to gigacalories, but also for network losses.
It is about 600 million lei accumulated in the period 2020-2022. The mayor says he has paid the subsidy so far, but he no longer has the money to pay the 600 million lei debt.
PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu said on Antena 3 on Sunday that it would be better for Nikuzor Dan to resign and leave the people of Bucharest, as he is not in a position to administratively manage the Romanian capital.
“Are you interested in the warmth of the people of Bucharest on November 10? Do you wake up in November? Call Cholak. This is a mismatch, in September it has a surplus of 200 million lei and is asking for help from the government. We will have a discussion in the coalition, if the prime minister wants to have this discussion, it is not within my authority,” Çolaku said after the capital’s mayor asked him to talk to the finance minister to solve the heat problem in Bucharest. .
Last week, HotNews.ro wrote that ELCEN received three lawsuits in court against Termoenergetica, a hot water and heat supplier in Bucharest, for debts of 535 million lei.
Nikušor Dan: Out of all Romanian residents, the residents of Bucharest received the least amount of money from the government
Nikušor Dan wrote on Facebook on Monday that “among all Romanian residents, Bucharest residents received the least amount of money from the government through compensation schemes for natural gas consumption for the 2021-2022 cold season.”
“Only 28.21 lei per house was allocated by the executive power last winter for the municipality of Bucharest. For comparison, the city of Calaras received 4,417 lei, i.e. 156 times more than the capital, Drobeta-Turnu-Severin – 2,281 lei (80 times more), and Odorheiu-Secuiesc – 1,797 lei (63 times more). I have given some examples at random from the table, but the numbers show more clearly than words can tell how big the discrepancy is between the amounts received by other cities compared to those allocated to Bucharest. All the figures in the table are official and taken from the decisions of the Government and the orders of the Ministry,” the general mayor wrote on Facebook.
