Economou: if Mr Tsipras is impatient, let him move a vote of no confidence

“In our political universe, two things are endless: empathy and the constant distortion of words and facts in his statements. SYRIZA“said the deputy minister to the prime minister and government spokesman. Yannis Oikonomou, responding to the SYRIZA statement, calling on the official opposition to hold accountable “proofs of what he claims and implies” and yes submit a vote of no confidence.

Mr. Economou emphasized that “in the briefing for political editors, I mentioned the institutional matter of course: the Prime Minister is not involved in the work of the EMA, let alone the issue of legal ties”, and noted that the Prime Minister is only informed by the EMA if there are conclusions about which the Service considers it necessary to inform him.

Mr. Economou added: “And in any case, if SYRIZA has evidence of what it claims and implies, about which the government has no information, let it bring it to justice and bring it to the fore.”

Finally, referring to the presence of the Prime Minister in Parliament, he said:

“As for the presence of the Prime Minister in Parliament, let them not worry. Very soon he will answer again – generally and institutionally – on these issues in the Greek Parliament. If Mr. Tsipras is impatient and feels so ready, let him move a vote of no confidence, as he did in the event of a snowfall.”

SYRIZA: Mr. Mitsotakis is hiding

To confirm on behalf of a government spokesman “monitoring also by EYP of the ministers of the Mitsotakis government”, SYRIZA speaks of Giannis Economou’s statements today.

In particular, the statement of the official opposition states that “for two weeks now, Mr. Mitsotakis has been hiding and refusing to answer in Parliament the ongoing questions of Mr. Tsipras about whether there are any of his persons and ministers who, in addition to the Predator, were also under EYP surveillance.

He adds that “Today, Mr. Economou’s spokesman went even further: he did not deny that his ministers may have been under surveillance by EYP with an official connection in addition to malware. He argued that the prime minister, who had brought the EMP into his office from the first day of his reign, allegedly could not know who was being monitored, even if it concerned government ministers.

After that, SYRIZA reports that “it is clear that Mr. Economou today confirmed the EMP’s monitoring of ministers of the Mitsotakis government”, while noting that “Mitsotakis’ refusal to respond to the parliamentary audit shows his guilt. No innocent is hiding.”
