He responded with a sharp statement SYRIZA-PS in a speech by the Prime Minister to the ND Political Committee in which he accused him of “a wiretapping violator was trying to present himself as a victim”.
“Today, in shock, the country watched the prime minister’s unprecedented ravings in absolute retreat in the face of his imminent political doom,” SYRIZA said in a statement, adding in regards to the surveillance case: centers conspiring against him. He completely distorted the truth, trying to present himself as a victim of wiretapping, while he is the perpetrator of the most brutal attack received by democracy in Greece since the fall of the junta.”
Responding to the Prime Minister’s references to business interests, SYRIZA says: “But the funniest thing is when he said that he didn’t care about business interests and that he would not let Greece become a banana. Who; The Prime Minister, who for three and a half years has been acting as a road policeman of interests and managed for the first time in the post-colonial period to put the country under the microscope of European institutions and the international press for the rule of law.”
He then refers to the national uniform and equipment: “We had no doubts about the audacity of Mr. Mitsotakis. Even for how ruthless he is. But today he has proven how dangerous he has become to our national interests. He embarked on gigantic armaments programs without negotiations and without securing a single euro for the country’s defense industry. No other prime minister could dare to allocate 7 billion for equipment and even euros for the Greek defense industry.”
He concludes by stating: “However, we agree with Mr. Mitsotakis on one point. That the next elections will be the most critical in the post-revolutionary period. Either the nightmare called Mitsotakis will continue for the country, or the nightmare will end, and democracy and justice will return to place everywhere.”
