For an important achievement and for a policy with a deep social impact, he spoke Kyriakos Mitsotakis completion of the liquidation of unpaid pensions.
The Prime Minister, in his speech at the event of the Ministry of Labor, said that his choice in the person of Kostis Hatsidakis for a particular ministry is fully justified, and congratulated all the leadership of the ministry.
Mr. Mitsotakis said that this grand undertaking was not ideologically motivated and that there were three conclusions:
- The state can cooperate with the private sector to speed up the implementation of public policy.
- We’re not going anywhere without the use of technology.
- We cannot continue to change how the core of the state works in order to achieve better results.
The Prime Minister mentioned the change in EFKA’s working hours, which, he stressed, has brought impressive results.
He noted that today every sixth basic pension has been issued over the past 22 months, and now we can issue basic pensions every two months.
At the same time, he described the number 1555 as a revolution, emphasizing that this policy also does not have a party and ideological coloring.
Regarding the issue of deferred pensions, he stressed that this is a policy with a deep social imprint, and asked how these people lived for 2-3 years until their pension came out.
“This is a policy with an important social sign of supporting the weakest,” he said, noting that in 2019 the situation that the government took on was tragic.
Referring also to the problem of inflation, which, according to him, is imported, he said that the Ministry of Labor provides very substantial support to pensioners.
At the same time, he mentioned an increase of more than 7% from 1.1.2023 in pensions, the abolition of the solidarity contribution and an extraordinary allowance of 250 euros in December for low-income pensioners.
It should be noted that over the past 21 months, more than 470 thousand pensions have been issued and 85% of applications for 2022 have already been satisfied.
Now EFKA issues more than 1,250 pensions per day, while in 2019 it did not exceed 500 bonuses.
