
“Greece has joined a united Europe to deepen its democracy and institutions,” stressed Mr. Margaritis Schinas during the presentation of the book The Landscape of Democracy, emphasizing that “business interests and organized groups competing for profit and influence will not divert the country from its European trajectory, which the Greeks achieved at the cost of sacrifice.”
Referring to the surveillance case, the Vice-President of the European Commission noted that “unconditional marketing and the use of malicious software should not become the new norm.”
He also added that “EU. took the first step by enacting the Freedom of the Media Act, which prohibits the use of such opportunities against journalists,” and stressed that “there is now an urgent need to create a strong regulatory framework that will offer comprehensive guarantees and set clear limits.”
The presentation of the book “Landscape of Democracy” took place today at the IANOS bookstore. Author Kostas Botopoulos spoke about the book with Margariti Sheena, Anna Diamantopoulou, President of the network, prof. EU Commissioner and other Minister and Chara Kefalidou MP PASOK – KINAL. The debate was moderated by journalist Yiannis Papageorgiou.
