“Greece has joined a united Europe to deepen its democracy and institutions,” stressed Mr. Margaritis Schinas during the presentation of the book The Landscape of Democracy, emphasizing that “business interests and organized groups competing for profit and influence will not divert the country from its European trajectory, which the Greeks achieved at the cost of sacrifice.”

Referring to the surveillance case, the Vice-President of the European Commission noted that “unconditional marketing and the use of malicious software should not become the new norm.”

He also added that “EU. took the first step by enacting the Freedom of the Media Act, which prohibits the use of such opportunities against journalists,” and stressed that “there is now an urgent need to create a strong regulatory framework that will offer comprehensive guarantees and set clear limits.”
