Soltz: We do not ask where the weapon will go

The clarification of the fact that the German side did not set any conditions regarding the geographical deployment of the Marder-type armored combat tanks (BBT) provided to Greece against the BMP-1, advanced to Ukraine, was yesterday’s statement by Chancellor Olaf Soltz regarding the start of a circular exchange will be implemented a few days ago . Mr. Soltz said, in particular, that “we gave these weapons programs, that is, these armored ones. We never ask what Greece does with them. It’s not something we do now or in the past with other hardware systems. Greece is an extremely respectable and reliable partner in NATO, and I will not be responsible for Greece’s position.”

In fact, Mr. Scholz implicitly denied that Germany provided specific TOMAs on the condition that they were not deployed to the islands. It is recalled that “K” has already disclosed since August 13 that the German “Marders” will be stationed on Evros due to geographical features and usefulness. Finally, instead of the BMP-1, American M-1117 wheeled vehicles were deployed to the islands. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said yesterday during joint statements with Mr. Soltz that Marder TOMAs will be deployed in Evros in accordance with the relevant recommendations made by those in charge, i.e. those who belong to the armed forces. Practically after Soltz’s clarifications, as well as the recent statement by the State Department about the deployment of M-1117 by Greece in any part of its territory (they were recorded after aerial photographs published by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense), it becomes clear that the US, E.E., Paris and Berlin even are not included in the demilitarization messages broadcast from Ankara.
