The Prime Minister answered a question about natural gas expressed optimism that the matter could be closed on 24 November at the ministerial level and “not come back to us”, emphasizing that “the concerns of all Member States must be taken into account”, agreed by Mr. Soltz, adding, however, that “we have a long way to go at the ministerial level to cap prices.” Earlier, the Prime Minister referred to the common framework facing the country and Europe, noting that we are defending ourselves in energy crisis, to the pandemic and the challenges of our neighbors, “covering their defenses and alliances.” Focusing on the Turkish provocation, Mr. Mitsotakis stressed that “Mr. Erdogan is reaching a dead end, because everyone knows that the Greek islands do not threaten anyone and international conventions do not change illusions”, while he added that “Greece protects the Greek and European borders and saves lives in the Aegean.” Finally, focusing on improving bilateral relations, he noted that Germany is one of the first investors in Greece “in tourism” and in the defense sector, where “circular exchange” is applied, while the two countries are leading in the green transition.

The Greek Prime Minister spoke about war reparations and Turkey’s position, saying that “Mr. Erdogan is reaching a dead end.”

The Prime Minister did not fail to mention the question of war reparations, stating that “the gaps between us must be closed”, while the question of German reparations and mortgages “remains open” and “its settlement would be especially useful.”

The German chancellor touched on the issue of natural gas in detail, noting that “energy prices should come down, and we agreed that this should be done as a sign of solidarity. We have to find a way to store natural gas together,” commending Greece for its progress in renewable energy. As he clarified, “our goal should be independence from Russia and Russian imports.” Asked about relations between Greece and Turkey, he said that “good neighborly relations between Greece and Turkey are important to NATO” and sent a message saying that “it is unacceptable to question the sovereignty of a NATO partner.”
