Today, Wednesday, September 28, the Deputy Minister of National Defense visited the headquarters of the units and observation posts of the Land Forces and the Navy in Halki, Kasos and Astypalea. Nikos Hardaliascompleting his two-day visit to the islands of the eastern Aegean.

As announced, he went to the Chalcis patrol post, the 3rd National Guard Company/National Guard Battalion on Karpathos in Kasos and the 2nd National Guard Company/National Guard Battalion on Kos in Astypalea. The Deputy Minister was informed by the administrations about the current operational and training activities of the units and talked with the leadership, conscripts and National Guardsmen.

During his stay in Astypalaia, he visited the Troupakis high-speed missile patrol boat, which is participating in the Coastal Reconnaissance 2022 exercise. N. Hardalias was informed by the captain about the task and operational capabilities of the missile boat, talked with its crew and inspected the onboard operational training facilities as part of the exercise.

N. Hardalias also met with the mayors of Chalkida, Evangelos Fragakis, Kasos Michalis Erotokritos and Astypalea Nikos Komineas, as well as with the commanders of the local security forces. The Deputy Minister was accompanied by the commander of the Supreme Military Command of the Interior and the Islands, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Khupis.
