Anastasiades: What truth is Erdogan talking about when he owns 37% of Cyprus

Democracy President, Nikos Anastasiadesin his speech at the 77th UN General Assembly, he did not hide his disappointment, referring to the failure to comply with international law and international agreements, while wondering how the economic or other interests of powerful member states are above international law.

Mr. Anastasiades, in the context of his speech, referred to Turkey’s daily threats against Greece, in particular, doubts about the sovereignty of the Greek islands, as well as dozens of daily violations of Greek airspace by Turkish aircraft, adding that “Turkey, it owns 37% of its islands, Cyprus, with an army.”

“What truths does Mr. Erdogan speak about? For the truth that a third of the Cypriots were forced to leave their homes and live elsewhere? For the fact that Mr. Erdogan does not accept any of the decisions proposed by the UN for the state?” he said and asked the presidents of states to take Turkey’s actions seriously, especially in recent times.

“The Greek Cypriot community has made and will continue to make every effort to resume negotiations with a view to reaching a solution based on United Nations resolutions. I would like my country to be united, for the two sides to live and develop together. For a better and more stable future for humanity,” he added.
