New threats from Ankara through Cavusoglu

ISTANBUL – ANSWER. Ankara still maintains a high tone towards Athens. OUR Mevlut Cavusoglu urged Greece to “collect its thoughts” and threatened that it would “bear the consequences” otherwise, while Omer Celik, a spokesman for the ruling Justice and Development Party, accused Kyriakos Mitsotakis of “threats to the Blue Motherland” and called Greece a “pirate state”.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, at an event dedicated to Turkey’s “National Struggle” 100 years ago, after historical references, continued to make statements about today’s events, saying that “although we are trying to respect the rights of neighbors on both sides of the Aegean, the Greek continues to itch and continues provoke. If you enter into an adventure on behalf of others, you will suffer the consequences today as you have in the past. This is a warning to our neighbor Greece.” Mr. Cavusoglu continued his threats and characteristically stated: “Everyone should collect their thoughts. We say this especially in Greece. Don’t be the tool of others. Do not keep calling. Because Turkey is true to its friendship, but its enmity is very serious. And don’t forget about it.”

Referring to Mr. Tsavusoglu’s statements, government spokesman Yiannis Oikonomou emphasized that “we give Ankara’s rhetoric the weight it deserves” and explained Tsavusoglu’s rhetoric as “domestic consumption or an attempt to build reality on the basis of fiction.”

Mr. G. Economou explained the Turkish Foreign Minister’s rhetoric as “domestic consumption or an attempt to build reality on the basis of fiction.”

The baton of statements against the Greek government was taken over by Mr. Celik, who argued that “Mitsotakis threatens the legitimate rights and interests of Turkey, just as he threatens the existence and legitimate rights of the TRNC and is behind the aggression and persecution against the Blue Homeland.” A spokesman for the AKP argued in his statements that “the result of the internal crises of the Mitsotakis government should not mean the removal of Greece from legitimacy. Greece has a government that publishes lists and announces with which countries it has formed an alliance. A government that is busy day and night explaining how many countries have established bases on their soil.”

Republican People’s Party (CHP) spokesman Faik Oztrak accused Mr. Erdogan of threatening Greece with the slogan “we will suddenly come one night” and spoke of “cheap tricks” while claiming that “in this paradoxical state they speak the language of coffee shops. However, Mr. Oztrak spoke of the islands being “under occupation”.

He was preceded by CHP President Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who emphasized that “our position on the militarization of the islands is clear, we will resolve this issue when we come to power.”
