The energy crisis has brought many changes to the public space. We have seen that in many European capitals a temporary “stop” was placed in the illumination of famous monuments.
Now it’s her turn parliament turn off lights to save energy, thereby participating in efforts to reduce energy waste.
By decision of the Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Konstantinos Tasoulas, the lighting of the façade and other sides of the Parliament building has been discontinued, and only security lighting around the perimeter of the building will remain.
At the same time, an energy modernization program for the building is being implemented, resulting in a 36% reduction in energy consumption. The program began in 2019 and is nearing completion for the building’s heating-cooling systems and electric lighting, with the installation of new energy-saving lighting fixtures inside the parliament building.
Finally, studies on the replacement of external lighting have been completed and the project is expected to be ready during 2023, and the replacement of wooden frames with new energy frames has also been completed.
