With four plus one spikes on the agenda and in the midst of an explosive environment, shaped mainly by speeches by political leaders on a contentious issue at a recent extraordinary meeting of the national delegation, his work begins this morning in Parliament. examination board per follow up.
The first item on the agenda, which is also the first “splinter”, is presidential elections. The ruling faction insists on respecting the existing Regulations, according to which the presidiums of the committees are elected by secret ballot – on the basis of the majority. The opposition, however, argues that the chairmanship of the examination committee, which under the new constitution is reserved for a minority, should be “representative”. However, although this was the first time this had been raised as a question in the Inquiry, which had been launched a few months ago on his initiative. SYRIZAno party has since raised the issue of changing the Rules of Procedure to allow for a “cross-party” presidency.
The second “splinter”, which is related in nature, concerns her calling witnesses. It follows from the Regulations, as they say, that the corresponding list is formed on the basis of the opinion of the majority. In a previous investigation, the opposition condemned the ND’s tactics, citing the exclusion of critical witnesses. At the current stage, the most interesting is, on the one hand, the already verbal intention of SYRIZA and PASOK to summon the Prime Minister to the Inquiry, and on the other hand, a similar “blue” willingness to summon persons such as Mr. St. Pixiorlas or others, as witnesses to the reign of SYRIZA-ANEL.
The work of the commission on the monitoring case begins today with the election of the chairman.
This brings us to the third ‘thorn’, which has to do with scope of study: As a rule, one should only assume that, based on his written and approved request PASOKthe objects of investigation of the Investigative Committee will be the cases of N. Andrulakis, Af. Koukakis operation EYP and Predator malware. However, verbally, at a meeting of the national delegation, an agreement was also reached to investigate the case of “hearings” at the KKE call center – a case, however, “covering” the period of Prime Minister Mr. Al. Tsipras. It is assumed that either with this as a “remedy”, or with a new mandate from the plenary, an investigation will be undertaken so as not to be delayed only during the term of the current government.
The fourth “splinter” in connection with the previous one is duration of works. Let us recall that it was decided to give the Auditor one month to complete his work. It is considered likely that it will request and receive a short-term extension, with the government seeking a short-term completion and the official opposition waiting for a lengthy process to keep the anti-government climate it has been cultivating.
Fifth “thorn” confidential or not nature of meetings. N.D. raises the issue of the confidentiality of the proceedings, since the investigation will also involve EYP, which is of national importance. The opposition fundamentally disagrees with this.
