The Minister visited the Prosecutor’s Office of the Supreme Court and, he said, brought to the attention of Mr. Dogiakos evidence “reflecting the inconsistencies found in the case of 38 immigrants”, with the aim of restoring justice and establishing if the criminal acts were committed by any person involved in one way or another. to this case.

Minister Mr. Notis Mitarakisreferred in his lengthy statement to the Evros incident, which caused a bitter political standoff, noting that events unfolded as follows:

“We all watched the incident with 38 migrants who, according to their statement, ended up on an island in Turkey. As is known, these people were found on the territory of Greece on August 14, on August 15 they were discovered by the Greek police and taken to the KYUT police station, where they applied for asylum. Whether they have the right to stay in Greece or the European Union will be decided by the asylum office. from now on, if the crimes were committed either by themselves, but mostly by third parties, this is something that should be considered by justice, and therefore I asked to meet with the prosecutor of the Supreme Court today to present him with the inconsistencies that have arisen from the consideration of the case to date . The most important thing, as I said in Parliament, is that the family that announced the death of a five-year-old child, which, of course, touched us all, apparently declared that it consisted of four children under protection. in our country”.

The minister then referred to other cases, stating in particular that “it was also stated that there were people with health problems in the group, this was not confirmed”, while he concluded: “There are various questions, there are reports of the involvement of third parties. persons. I will bring all this to justice, and from now on, it is now a matter of justice.”

The Supreme Court Prosecutor is already reviewing the evidence and is expected to start an investigation into the case from next week if he deems it appropriate.
