The Turkish President called it a “hostile action.” Tayyip Erdogan “locking” Greek S-300 a Turkish plane that Ankara claims took place last week west of Rhodes.
It is reminded that Greek side progressed to complete denial of Turkish claims.
Mr. Erdogan, in his speech at the Presidential Palace today, repeated the allegations, noting that these are “challenge for NATO and allies“. “We are curious about the US reaction to this persecution,” he added.
“Recent events have revealed the truth to everyone. “Castle” was made on our F-16 aircraft by Russian S-300s. This is hostile behavior. Especially if this aircraft is performing NATO duties. In fact, they challenged NATO and their allies, not us,” he said.

Sharpening his aggressive rhetoric, the Turkish president said that “Greece is not our equal and is not our interlocutor.”
“Greece is not like us. Recent events have revealed the truth to everyone. Jamming F-16 radar by Russian S-300s is hostile behaviour. Moreover, if this aircraft is on duty in NATO, it means that it was aimed directly at NATO. In fact, she challenged NATO and its allies, not us. It is interesting how America itself will react to the activation of the S-300 systems. No one should doubt that Greece, which knows no borders, will commit this folly. […] Turkey has done, is doing and will do what it deserves. Let everyone know this. The deployment of bases by Greece on the islands will never make sense for Turkey. Those who gave so much support to Greece should think here. I don’t know what they will do next,” the Turkish President said today.

It is worth noting that last Sunday, Greek military sources assured that there was no “capture of the S-300”. The same sources stressed that “the interception is being carried out by our fighters in accordance with international regulations in accordance with standard practice.”
According to Ankara, “the S-300 target tracking and missile guidance radar blocked a Turkish F-16 with its radar station, which was on a reconnaissance mission 10,000 feet west of Rhodes,” essentially speaking about “the enemy to act.”
The Turkish claims follow similar leaks in recent times. Anchor intensify the rhetoric about the “persecution of Greece”, even with the participation of NATO.
Akar: ‘Anxious’ Greece is a ‘bad neighbor’
It is recalled that yesterday on Monday, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar directed his fire against Greece, which he presented as a “bad neighbor” that “oppresses” Turkey.
“In the Aegean, we are constantly worried about a bad neighbor. Let me be clear that we don’t cause trouble if they don’t do this to us. This applies to the Navy, Air Force and Ground Forces. What we do is that we will not allow our rights to be violated. We will not accept any fait accompli. This is certain,” said Mr. Akar, who at the same time returned Turkish allegations of “locking” F-16s from Greek S-300s, allegations that, however, have already been categorically denied by the Greek side.
