“This is what we asked for and received an answer on these issues. At this stage, we are doing this and continue to monitor this issue very carefully, ”the representative of the commission emphasized.
In addition, when asked what the next step of the Commission could be, Deputy Representative Dana Spinan replied that it would depend on the assessment by the competent services of the Commission of the reaction of the Greek authorities.
Finally, Christian Wiegard pointed out that the responsibility for national security lies with member states. However, according to him, member states should apply the relevant EU law. – including the jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice – when they ensure national security.
