Meeting with the UEFA President, Alexander Cheferin the prime minister spent the day at Megaros-Maximos Kyriakos Mitsotakis and in this context, they discussed the initiatives taken by the government in cooperation with UEFA and FIFA to address the challenges faced by Greek football.

In fact, Mr. Čeferin thanked the Prime Minister for Greece’s firm stand against the creation of a closed European Super League by some big clubs and before the Court of Justice of the European Union.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister told Mr. Čeferin that Greece was “clearly moving in the right direction” in dealing with issues related to football, and expressed the government’s determination to resolve “all outstanding issues”.

He also noted that “to the extent that we can intervene while respecting the independence of the Federation, we will do whatever is necessary to leave behind all the problems we have inherited.”

“We have your support, we have the right orientation and leadership, and we will succeed,” added Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
