Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis tweeted a photo of the golden European champion holding the Greek flag and wrote: “At the highest level of European sport, Greece is once again with Antigone Drisbiotis. Second gold medal in a few days, gold forever in our hearts.”

“Her race is an example for all of us,” Alexis Tsipras says of Antigoni Drisbiotis on the occasion that the 38-year-old runner won the double at the European Athletics Championships.

“As important as it is to win a second gold in a major competition in a few 24 hours, it is equally important to highlight the tremendous struggle that this athlete has put in to get here. Performance training and survival work. All with a daily struggle.”

With these warm words, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoubas congratulates Antigoni Ntrisbiotis, who shows, he adds, “what power a person hides when he has the will and faith to achieve his goals.”

Minister for the Protection of Citizens, Takis Theodorikakos, wrote: “A thousand congratulations to the great athlete, great Greek woman, great woman Antigone Drisbiotis. Unique winner of the second gold medal in walking at the Pan-European Games. We bow.”
