The first dry freighter with Ukrainian corn arrived in Istanbul on August 6 – the Panama-flagged Navi Star sailed to Ireland with 33,000 tonnes of corn. In total, to date, 18 cargo ships have already left Ukraine’s ports, according to the SKC, within the framework of the “grain corridor”, which removed more than 438 thousand tons of agricultural products.
“Grain Agreement” between Ukraine and Russia
The agreement to end the blockade of Ukrainian ports for grain exports was signed by the Russian Federation and Ukraine in Istanbul on July 22, with the mediation of the UN and Turkey. The agreement provides for the creation of safe corridors in the Black Sea from the coast of Ukraine to the Bosphorus. It is planned to remove 20-25 million tons of grain through them, which were blocked in Ukraine due to Russian aggression.
Export is provided from three Ukrainian ports – Odessa, Chornomorsk and Yuzhny. The security of the passage of cargo ships is monitored by the SKC in Istanbul, in which representatives from Russia, Ukraine and Turkey work under the leadership of the UN.
The day after the “grain corridor” agreement was signed, the FR Armed Forces launched a missile attack on the port of Odessa. However, Ukraine said this would not impede preparations for grain exports.
