Two more grain-laden ships left the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk. In the framework of the “grain corridor” agreed by Ukraine and the Russian Federation with Turkey, the dry cargo ships Fulmar S under the flag of Barbados and Thoe under the flag of the Marshall Islands departed, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on Twitter on Saturday, August 13th. The first ship with 12,000 tonnes of corn is heading to Iskenderun, the second – with 3,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds – went to Tekirdag, as indicated below.
At the same time, the Turkish department announced that a ship must leave for Ukraine during the day to buy a new batch of grain.
About 450,000 tons of grain were exported from Ukraine via the Black Sea.
On the eve of Chernomorsk and Yuzhny left two more ships with Ukrainian food, went to Turkey and Iran. In total, since the beginning of August, 16 ships have left Ukrainian Black Sea ports, taking about 450,000 tons of food from the war-torn country. The first ship with agricultural products left Odessa on August 1, the Sierra Leone-flagged freighter Razoni loaded with corn bound for Lebanon and passed inspection in Istanbul the next day.
At the end of July, Russia and Ukraine signed agreements in Istanbul, through the mediation of the UN chief, António Guterres, to solve the problem of the export of millions of tons of Ukrainian grain, blocked in seaports since the beginning of the war. The agreement between Russia and Ukraine was not concluded jointly; instead, each party signed a separate document with Turkey and the UN. Less than a day after the agreement was signed, Russia launched a missile attack on the port of Odessa.
