There is a “partition” of the Greek aviation industry

At the beginning of September, the implementation of the plan for the division of the ODA and the privatization of the production part is expected with the introduction of a strategic partner (Lockheed Martin) will be ready and handed over to the authorities. By definition, the Minister of Development has (and only) responsibility for the privatization phase. Adonis Georgiadeshowever, a letter describing the data from the American side will also be delivered to the finance ministers Christos Staikouras and national defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos.

How “TO” was first identified during the Prime Minister’s visit Kyriakou Mitsotakis in Washington last May, in practice, the contacts between the two parties are aimed at splitting the ODA into two companies. The first, which will include fixed assets and infrastructure, will remain under the control of the state, while the second will, in fact, be a company that will deal with various projects such as aircraft construction, aircraft repair, aircraft modernization and engine maintenance.

Despite initial discussions between the Greek government and Lockheed Martin, on whose behalf the ODA actually performs almost 75% of its work (F-16, P-3, C-130 upgrades, parts of the global F-16 chain, etc.), as well as with the involvement of legal consultants and other experts, the optimal method from a legal and technical point of view is being sought, which will be used to continue the “break” of the company into two parts without disrupting the economic activities of the company.

The goal is for the company to become a hub for the construction and repair of aircraft such as the C-130 for the wider regional market.

In any case, if the privatization goes through, ODA will turn into a center for the construction and repair of aircraft such as the C-130, F-16 and other systems not limited to the Air Force (Air Force) fleet, but in a broader sense. . In short, ODA could become the center of an important regional market.

Marders

Meanwhile, yesterday, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of SYRIZA P. Rigas, T. Dritsas and G. Tsipras, citing reports, questioned whether the BMP-1 armored fighting vehicles (AFVs) were withdrawn from the islands, complaining that this was done in violation of Greco-German agreement on the previous arrival of the Marder. The reality at the moment, according to well-informed sources, is that some BMP-1s have indeed been transferred to the Greek mainland for maintenance, as most of them are not in working order. In their place, the M-1113 and part of the American M-1117 have already been put, much more suitable for the island terrain. Therefore, the satisfaction of the needs of defense is out of the question. On the contrary, since the Army headquarters knows both the terrain and the needs of the motorized units very well, it has already been decided that the marders, when they come to Greece, will not be transferred to the islands, but to the armored brigades of Thrace. where their capabilities can be used to the maximum extent.

Erdogan on the drilling rig

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Greece’s irritation with the departure of “Abdul Hamid Khan” for drilling in the Eastern Mediterranean a reaction of Athens. “What did we do yesterday – the day before yesterday?” We escorted the drilling ship “Abdul Hamid Khan” from Tasuju, Mersin. But Greece was very worried. “Hey, what is this Erdogan doing?” They said. Erdogan is not doing anything… He is doing his job,” the President of Turkey said characteristically. At the same time, another flight of a Turkish UAV was recorded yesterday morning over the territory of Greece, namely over Trianisia Astypalea.
